Too many people today are falling victims to the false perception that submitting to a low-calorie diet will help them achieve their weight loss goals. This turns out to be a huge misconception, which often leads to even bigger weight gains. And we are not talking about positive muscle mass gains. We are talking about those unnecessary and excessive fat gains that are the very foundation of the problem that led to dieting in the first place. Why is that? Doesn't it makes sense- you eat less and dramatically reduce your calory intake- and you lose weight. Well, not really. That's not exactly how your body works, and in today's world of information and communication we should know better than that. Even if that type of dieting leads to some short-term results, it will eventually FAIL! I'll just point out a few of them- yout body adapts to the changes. So, after the initial low-calorie shock and weight loss what follows is big disappointment. Once you get off your diet- the weight goes back on. You can't live on a low-calorie diet all your life, can you? Also, don't forget how your body will respond to the lower energy intake- it will slow down your metabolism in order to conserve itself. Is this beneficial to your weight loss goals- not at all. We can go on and on here but that's not the point. The point is that it takes a different approach in order to lose weight and by weight I mean fat, not muscle, because the last thing you want is your body to canibalize itself. So what does it take? Well, there are also a lot of different approaches to that too. The foundation of that process, though, is that it's more important to change the way you eat, what you eat and how you eat it. This doesn't mean that you can eat all you want, but that doesn't mean you should be on a low-calorie intake either. It's the balance and consistency you should be looking for.
